4 Steps to Getting Interviews on Linkedin

Attended an interesting webinar today on getting interviews with Linkedin. This link will point you to the host and provide additional information.

A couple of key things;

1. Find companies your interested in using the companies search in Linkedin
2. Identify people you can reach out to - any direct connections?
3. Reach out to ex employees and new hires to get information on the organization
4. Engage them - invite them for coffee, find common ground

Ayers Group Member List

All is a go on the Ayers Google wiki site I developed to enhance the networking experience for the group in transition. Members have been updating their information, in particular: industry preference and the last seven organizations they have been a part of.

This will provide another resource for group members to use as they obtain job leads.....

Job Posting Site

Developed a job posting site to make it easier for Ross Grossman to reach out to his 500 followers. Ross produces job leads for his group of professionals and has been a mainstay in this area.

Right now his process is burdensome and inefficient. The Google group job posting area will ease his process and provides his constituency a vehicle for easy searching.

Sibson Network Group

Sent an email to the Sibson Networking Group today to see if they are interested in organizing their constituents better. I'm looking to share the developed Google wiki and the Microsoft Office Live systems with them.

Human Resources Networking Wiki

My colleague Richard and I have been discussing how networking groups need to be better organized. Information is limited to whose hand you shake and happen to meet. I'm developing tools that will allow networkers to have better information on their colleagues.

Information that is needed, besides contact information, is knowing the former companies these folks come from. When an opportunity arises at a firm this list can be key (much like Linkedin) to getting an introduction to the firm and potentially having your resume walked in.
